A city trail known as the Historic Roswell Trail actually runs through the park and this bridge is how hikers cross Big Creek and continue into Vickery Creek. If you refer to the map of Vickery Creek on the home page for the unit, you will see a bridge over Big Creek near to where Hog Wallow Creek runs into it. There is no reason whatsoever to enter here unless you live in the neighborhood and can walk to the trailhead.

You would have to park at the curb in the neighborhood that Shadowbrook Drive runs into. There is a trailhead on Grimes Bridge Road at its intersection with Shadowbrook Drive.

When you turn down Mill Street, follow the signs to the “Covered Bridge.”Ĭovered Bridge at Roswell Mill Trailhead on Grimes Bridge Road There is a covered bridge and an old mill, neither of them on NPS property, but if you cross the covered bridge over Big Creek (aka Vickery Creek) and hike up the steep trail, you will find yourself on NPS property at the middle section of the park just below the Vickery Creek Dam (see photo of trail map). Old Mill Park/Covered BridgeĪnother entrance to Vickery Creek is through a downtown Roswell City park known as Old Mill Park (aka Roswell Mill). If coming from Riverside Road, the park is the first right on South Atlanta Street. The southern section off of South Atlanta Street is not marked with a NPS entrance sign as is the northern section, so if you are coming from Roswell, be on the lookout for a left turn not too far from the traffic light at the intersection of South Atlanta Street and Riverside Road. The parking lot is large, as this is the main section of the unit. Parking for the northern section of Vickery Creek is off of Riverside Road.
